Since 2009 -Over and over again in all the training classes that I have taken on the internet, the same theme seems to resonate from all of the instructors and “experts”. 

 

In order to be successful you MUST:

Solve a problem!

Or

Give people some source of pleasure!

Over the past few years (since 2009), my goal has been to discover a Career Plan for myself.

And, through that desire, I created Career Plan 2………….

What if you think of your Career Plan today in the same way?

 

 

Whether you have the entrepreneur spirit or not, companies and people need problems solved . 

The idea of this is evident in inventors  or entrepreneurs.  Consider Thomas Edison and the light bulb or Henry Ford and the automobile.  The television ads we see everyday for infomercial products are full of them.  I know I have bought many a product hoping it will solve a problem for me.

But, if you are not an entrepreneur, how can you make a Career Plan that will solve a problem for companies?  You want a job with a salary and, hopefully, company benefits. 

 

What can you do to create a Career Plan 2 with the knowledge, skills, etc. that you have available to you?

 

Let’s say you have been a recruiter, like me, and need to create a new career for yourself within a company.  I  would begin to investigate what companies need today from a person knowledgeable in the HR business, create an information folder relating to the problem, and proceed to promote to businesses that I have found in need of the information.  Many times, this approach has created the many “Consultants” that  are struggling today as entrepreneurs.  However,  suppose you take  a different approach and offer your solution to their problem as an “intrapreneur”?

Companies today are looking very closely at their bottom lines (as we all are).  But, if you can solve a problem that will  add to their bottom line, you could become a valuable asset to them.

Example:  One of my favorite customers and friend is very knowledgeable about “labor laws”,  He has strong experience dealing with problems relating to “labor laws” and would be valuable to a company because of this knowledge.  If he offered  his information in a training program to the company that needs help with these problems and proved that his knowledge would be invaluable to the company, even as a part-time employee, he would open new possibilities for himself.  He would be able to position himself with the organization as an important individual.  Not only that, but other companies may be looking for his services as well.  He might even decide to expand it and sell it as an e-book or on Kindle, which would make it even more valuable information.

This will take planning and will not be an approach that is an overnight success.  But, it is thinking outside that old career plan box that we all know.   If you are sending out those resumes to job descriptions that you know you don’t fit or those jobs that you know you really don’t want, why not take a new approach ?

Find the companies that “Need You”! 

 

Give them something that they can use upfront.

Add value to yourself immediately.

Show that you have something that will solve a problem for them.

(This is the approach that most internet marketers are taking today on the internet.  Have you noticed the excellent free material and information that internet marketers are giving you?  No matter what the market, you can find free information today that is of value.   I honestly have been so enhanced with the information that I have received this way, that it is one of the reasons I have been able to complete this new website so quickly.  What these individuals have actually done, however, is to make me a believer in “who they are” and “what they have to offer me to solve my problems”.  Internet marketing companies are making a lot of money today and using this technique could bring you success to your job search because you are showing value early.)

(Remember that old saying about doing the same thing over and over

again and expecting a different result?)

 

The potential for success is high if done with planning, determination and believing that you are the “right person to solve the problem.”  I am not suggesting to give “all your secrets away”, but enough information that shows what a valuable employee you could be by solving one of their problems and adding to their bottom line.

Whether you are a “baby boomer”, a “seasoned employee”, or anyone that knows the talents, skills and knowledge that you can add to a company’s bottom line, consider this approach.

Today our economy is different than any years past.  Doing the same ole thing we have done for years, may not bring the results we need for our financial security today.

You may find this idea not conducive to what you do or you might think it is not an idea you would want to try.  The main reason I am giving you this idea is to get you to start thinking outside that “old career plan” box.  I believe it is critical today for us to find new opportunities.  We just can’t depend on the things we used to depend on for our personal security and personal financial situations.  I look forward to your comments.

One last bit of information:

I recently heard that the number one new business idea today  is training and teaching.  People (and companies) need to know ways to solve their problems and eliminate pain in their environment.
