The word “Survival” is being used a lot today. With the threats against us coming from so many sources, all of us are thinking about what it will take for us to survive tomorrow. The threats are not only coming from outside our planet, but also from inside our planet, country, and even our own government. Most of us are watching the skies and also what is happening with our global change, as well as, within our financial institutions, international relationships and other outside forces around us. Many of these threats are beyond our own control and we can’t help but question what threats we are not even being told about.
Yesterday, in Walmart, I saw survival food supplies and water containers being sold. What this says about our society’s general perception about what is going on, is truly scary. (I must admit that I purchased some supplies for myself to store away.)
What does all this fear about survival say about ……
Career and Job Security?
There is no doubt that each of us has personally experienced the changes going on around us in some way or another. We each can’t help but become more and more aware of the instability and insecurity that others are feeling, as well. I just heard on the news this morning that job statistics are improving and that consumers are beginning to make more purchases of “larger ticket” items, such as automobiles. That is GREAT NEWS!
The problem that I see with this news is that if we had only one blow from any of the threats that are currently facing us at this time, this positive information could turn negative very quickly. Believe me, I am not a “Negative Nelly”, but if we don’t realize how volatile things really are today and prepare for any event the best we can, we may get a very negative surprise in our future. I like to “hope for the best” but “plan for the worst”. And, since we have had a taste of what “could be”, I don’t want to experience that again. I believe that most of you would feel the same as I do.
I grew up in such a “happy, fantasy world” and think about children that are growing up today with the sense of insecurity and instability around us and how their view of the world will be so different than mine was at their age. Although it is sad to me that they are growing up with such a level of distrust and insecurity, they will have a view of the world that makes them more aware and prepared for potential problems. It is a comfort to know that the next generations will be looking ahead with an eye toward their future. Children of more recent generations are finding themselves in a world that is changing so rapidly, that they must keep up for their own survival.
One of the biggest lessons that I have learned in the past couple of years is just how vulnerable we really are today. No matter what we have chosen for our life work, creating more than one option for our financial survival is critical for today. Many of us depended upon “the stock market” or “savings programs” for our future or retirement. This approach to our future is dependent upon outside influences and not upon ourselves to ensure our well being.
Just like the idea of growing our own food, storing water or providing our own solar power, it is important that we grow or create our own source of income. Having more than one source of financial survival today is an excellent idea for all aspects of our family’s future.
Two big lessons that I learned over the past couple of years is that if you provide people with a problem solving approach or a way for them to gain pleasure, you can generate interest in what you have to offer. Consider what you, as a unique individual, can do today to either bring about pleasure or solve a problem for others. What special things do you know, enjoy, can do, or in any other way provide others with a answers to their problem or ideas for their pleasure? From that approach, let your mind wander.
Your unique answers to these two possibilities are an excellent starting point for you to create a Career Solution to your survival. Creating a Career Plan 2 for your future and developing it into a productive alternative for a solution to your survival in the future gives you a new feeling of having your own potential opportunity for surviving another meltdown of our economy.
Another word that has been used a whole lot over the past couple of years, especially in the online marketing world is “Niche”. Finding that niche, promoting yourself as an expert and solving problems or giving pleasure to those interested in it, is the path that many people are following today. The truth is, that no matter who you are, where you live and what you are doing today, you have some special skill, talent or knowledge that some other individuals would like to tap into for their own purposes.
What is your special niche?
Discover it…………Develop it………and see what you can Create.
When we realize that our survival depends upon how we prepare today, we understand how important it is for us to develop a plan that sets the stage for our survival. If you are like me and ready to prepare to depend upon myself in these uncertain times, then you are probably buying supplies, considering your own vegetable garden, purchasing rain barrels and looking at adding solar panels to your house. These are all great and worthwhile actions and show that you are making plans, just in case.
Don’t stop there!
Create alternate options for your financial survival. You will find that being proactive makes you feel better about your future and, believe it or not, you will find passion in knowing that your knowledge, gifts, talents and skills will benefit others.
I hope I have given you something to think about and that you will begin thinking about your own special opportunities today.
